Beach Ready

July 5th, 2014

The California Tailor “Beach Ready” collection is online now!  So I thought to get myself in the beach ready mood, I would head down the coast and spend the day at beautiful Laguna Beach.  Since moving to Los Angeles just over three years ago, exploring the amazing California coastline has become one of my favorite things to do.  It doesn’t get much better than this!  Laguna Beach is one of my favorite Southern California spots.  I love all the pretty coves, beautiful bays and secret beaches.  There is so much to explore (and yes, that’s me trying to keep dry on the shoreline)!

So grab a blanket and pack your picnic, after all, who can resist a perfect day at the beach.

Vintage surf culture

August 13th, 2013

California sunshine and surfing go hand in hand. As our wonderful California summer continues my mind is constantly drawn to the beach and the appeal of surf culture.

Through the photographs of Leroy Grannis and Ron Church I have become smitten with  the vintage surf look. Their photographs from the early fifties and sixties captured a moment in time. Like minded devotees coming together to catch waves, hang with friends and catch some rays. With one thing on their mind, to simply have a fantastic day at the beach.

This is what California summers are all about. No matter where you are in the world, these images will hopefully inspire you to head to your local break.

Take me to the ocean

July 1st, 2013

I have always loved the ocean.  When I moved to California, that love affair continued.  Today I thought I would post a few sea scape’s to put everyone in the summer mood.

Enjoy the weekend…  I’m off to the beach!

L.A Flower Market

May 10th, 2013

I love fresh-cut flowers!  I could not resist a visit to the L.A Flower Market this morning.  Being amongst the huge array of amazing colours and textures is so inspiring.  There’s something so indulgent about fresh-cut flowers.  The tightly packed beautiful display of every flower imaginable got me thinking about the Dior Autumn/ Winter couture show.

Raf Simons’ debut as the Creative Director of Dior was nothing short of spectacular, using one million blooms to cover the walls of five grand rooms of a Parisian mansion.  The floral masterpiece was the work of top fashion florist, Mark Colles.  It took a reported forty people, fifty two hours working through the night to complete in time while the flowers were at the peek of perfection.  The smell must have been amazing!

I wonder what happened to them all after the show!
